"ROUSEings" logo-iconLARGER THAN LIFE

This design is larger than life when built with RMS™ GRIDZ™ Soft Pak balloon frames in the standard 6" square grid format. It is 24 feet long (about 7.3 meters) and 10 feet (a little over 3 meters) tall.

Scale it down with newer versions of the GRIDZ Soft Pak™ that have 4" squares or 3" squares. We expect these new versions of GRIDZ Soft Pak™ to be available by January 1, 2014. You will find them at that time along with the 6" square version at http://bvsmall.com/gridz-store.

Use 4" squares to build the same design about 16' long and 6.7' tall. Use 3" squares to drop this design all the way down to about 12' long and about 5' tall.

(A)  ROUSEcipe™ FOR STANDARD DUPLET ASSEMBLY:

(1) BALLOONS (These are gray scale, but use colors to match your event.)

  • 537 white balloons (11"-12")
  • 265 black balloons (11"-12")
  • 179 gray balloons (11"-12")

(2) GRIDZ Soft Paks

  • (8) GRIDZ Soft Pak 5' by 6' Expand-And-Load™ panels. Connect 8 of the GRIDZ Soft Pak 5′ by 6′ panels as shown on the left below. Expand as shown on the right below

(3) LAYOUT FOR LOADING BALLOONS

Break out the design into rows and then into pairs of balloons. The top three rows and the bottom three rows are especially easy. The top three are all white. The bottom three are all gray. This technique is patented in the USA for use exclusively with Rouse Matrix™ frames.

(4) PREPARE BALLOONS IN PAIRS

Inflate, size & tie balloons in pairs according to your plan and the instructions below.

[caption id="attachment_1850" align="aligncenter" width="520"]Inflate, size balloons to 7.25" after squeezing them and tie in pairs to match you plan. Inflate and size balloons to 7.25" after squeezing them .Tie them in pairs to match your plan.[/caption]

Most balloons are not spheres, but are longer from the inflation neck to the opposite end of the balloon.  Squeezing balloons as show above before measuring them helps to get more accurate sizing.

.

(5) LOAD BALLOONS IN PAIRS

Roll balloons into adjacent openings according to your plan and make sure they are centered in the Matrix straps.

This technique of loading connected balloons in adjacent openings is a Rouse Original Technique and is patented in the USA for use exclusively with Rouse Matrix™ frames. It has advantages over loading balloons in singles:

  • Balloons are tied two at once.
  • Pick up and handle two balloons at once.
  • Load one balloon and the second is right there for loading next.
  • Each balloon acts as an anchor helping to hold the other in place

(6) STAND UP YOUR DISPLAY

Standard installation works well.  On this design we recommend using at least three base plates with vertical poles or pipes behind the display. Use them on the back side of the display. Use one near each end and at least one in the middle. You may use cable ties (zip ties / electrical ties), elastic bands or other lines to tie around the vertical element and the Matrix straps between balloons.  We recommend at least three connections on each vertical. Use at least one near the top and bottom and at least one in the middle. Tighten the connection until balloons are snug against the vertical element. If you tighten it too much you will force balloons out of the Matrix. TIP: Standard displays are flat walls of balloons, but the display will be stronger and neater if you bend the wall into an even, soft curve. .

(B)  ROUSEcipe™ FOR SPEED GRAPHIC™ ASSEMBLY:

(1) BALLOONS

  • They are the same as above except, use Double Ended Balloons (DEBs) Like Quick Link Balloons™ or Link-O-Loons™ rather than standard round balloons.

(2) GRIDZ Soft Paks

  • Combine and expand the same as above.
 .

(3) LAYOUT FOR LOADING BALLOONS

  • Break out the design into rows and then into pairs of balloons the same as above.
.

(4) PREPARE BALLOONS IN PAIRS

  • Inflate, size & tie balloons in pairs according to your plan and the instructions above
  • As you tie pairs for each row, tie the 24 pairs together to make a string of 48 for each of the 20 horizontal rows.
.

(5) LOAD BALLOONS IN STRINGS

  •  Roll balloons into adjacent openings according to your plan and make sure they are centered in the Matrix straps.
  • This 80 seconds video will give you an idea of just how fast balloons can be loaded with this Speed Graphic™ technique.
You are not likely to be this fast, at least not at first.  It is normal, however to load two to four times faster using t his technique. This technique variation of loading connected balloons in adjacent openings is also a Rouse Original Technique and is patented in the USA for use exclusively with Rouse Matrix™ frames. .

(6) STAND UP YOUR DISPLAY

  • Standard installation works well. Use the same instructions and tip as shown above.
Whether you choose classic pairs or Speed Graphic strings, you end up with new skills and a fun display MadeWithBalloons™.  Here are some resources to help you get started. .
